My Heart 4 Rent

0 words

I’m currently having an open house, showing my heart off to prospectivenew tenants.
You could call it a fixer-upper;
the former tenant kind of trashed it,
By virtue of neglect and callous
disregard.
No mind, she left before I could even
post an eviction notice.
I kept the damage
deposit.

There is, as you can see, plenty of room, and
of course I allow pets. A little spackle and throw open
the drapes – it’s practically like
new!
If only it would stop
raining.

Anyway, the welcome mat is out, don’t
get lost in the stampede.
Low monthly rates, first month free
of entanglements.
If it doesn’t work out, please turn off the lights
when you leave.

One thing, tho’, and this is important:
You’ll find a few rooms that have
been walled over,
boarded up,
throw away the key.
Full of worthless
mementos and
broken crockery.
I just wouldn’t
go anywhere near
there.
